Machig Labdron

Chod Empowerment and Teachings with Ven. Khenpo Tenzin Nyima

We look forward to the visit of Ven. Khenpo Nyima, the heart disciple of Most Venerable Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche. Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche himself empowered Khenpo Nyima to transmit the Chood teachings astaught by Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche.

Chod is a living Buddhist practice that has been widespread in Tibet for about a thousand years. The great practitioner Machik Labdrön is the bestknown representative of this tradition. Chod means to “cut through”. We “cut through” the grasping at a self that keeps us from attaining profound insight.

Overcoming ego-centric, habitual thinking and conduct allows the natural openness and clarity of our mind to manifest. This Tantric practice, in which one also gives away one’s own body in meditation, bound up with the highest bodhicitta, was first taught in Tibet by the yogini Machig Labdrön (approx.1055 -1145).
