We are very happy to announce that → Karl Brunnhölzl will give us teachings on Pointing-Out Our Buddha Heart
A Text by the Third Karmapa on Buddha Nature
The short text Pointing-Out Our Buddha Heart by the Third Karmapa, Rangjung Dorje (1284–1339), is a summary of the essential points of Maitreya’s Uttaratantra, his long work on buddha nature (tathāgatagarbha). The Third Karmapa masterfully combines the presentation of our buddha heart with elements of Yogācāra und Madhyamaka within the Shentong approach as well as with the Mahāmudrā tradition. Thus his description of the view in this text presents the definitive meaning of sūtra und tantra, while his more experiential practice instructions correspond to the Mahāmudrā approach of directly pointing out and familiarizing with the nature of the mind. The explanations of the Karmapa are supplemented with the commentary by Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Thaye (1813–1899) and other materials.
This course explores the heart of a buddha inherent in all of us through lecture, opportunities for discussions, and short contemplations on the topic. It is planned to take place over two weekends (next date 17.–19. 11. 2023).
